Ben Downing is 360 Rail’s Managing Director, with more than 25 years’ railway engineering experience whilst undertaking projects encompassing signalling and civils works throughout the UK. Ben is currently working with PLC Level Crossing technology to help deliver the digital Railways.
Ben joins 360 Rail from Carillion where he was a Signalling Engineering Manager undertaking CEM and Signalling CRE construction duties on the Knottingley and Peterborough North Level Crossing Renewals. Ben was responsible for overseeing the interface between Signalling, Civils, E&P, Ergonomics and Telecoms disciplines as well as liaising with stakeholders such as the ORR, Local Councils and the Highways Officers for the Level Crossing Renewals.
Prior to joining Carillion Ben undertook the duties of Network Rail Designated Project Engineer overseeing all the engineering interface with the contractors delivering the Romley Re-Signalling and Re-Control and was also responsible for closing out the East Lancs Level Crossing Renewal.
Ben has held senior roles within Carillion, Network Rail, Amey, C Spencer, Atkins, Bridgen, and Jarvis Rail.
